CUSTOMIZATION & PERSONALIZATION

TIP #1

Let your Desktop speak for you (Themes & dark mode)

Make your Windows 11 desktop your comfort zone by personalizing how it looks from the wide range of options. Go to Settings > Personalization. From here, you can choose to add more themes from Microsoft Store or even create one yourself. From the Colors section, you can enable Dark Mode. You can also toggle Night Light from Settings > System > Display to protect your eyes from blue light.

TIP #2

Give the Keyboard a bit of your personal touch (Touch keyboard)

If you have a touch device, Windows 11 has some new advanced and touch-friendly features to offer. Now you can use swipe typing, voice inputs, GIFs, and emojis! You can also add your personal touch to your keyboard and choose from various eye-catchy themes. Go to Settings > System > Personalization > Taskbar to add a touch keyboard to your taskbar and access it easily.

TIP #3

Having trouble letting go of old habits? (Taskbar)

Windows 11 comes with a taskbar and start menu in the center. It is exciting for many people but painfully uncomfortable for some who are used to the left alignment in previous Windows versions. However, no need to worry about it! Just right-click on the taskbar and click Taskbar Settings. Go to the Taskbar behaviors and change Taskbar alignment to the Left.

TIP #4

See what you wish to see (Recommendations)

The Recommended section shows you recently installed apps and files and other recommendations. Moreover, you can turn it off by going to Settings > Personalization > Start. From here, you can turn off the Show recently opened item in Start, Jump List, and File Explorer. If you don't like the recommendation section to look empty, you can turn on the Show recently added apps.

TIP #5

Add more convenience (Quick settings panel)

Windows 11 has two different pop-ups instead of one Action Center with all the notifications and settings. Click on the Time and Date to access the Notifications and Calendar panel. Click on the Network, Speaker, and Battery icon for the settings panel. From here, you can access connectivity options, volume, screen brightness, and other valuable features. You can customize the board by clicking the Pencil or edit button and adding more features to keep them at hand.

TIP #6

Explore and experiment (Widgets)

Widgets in Windows 11 keep you updated about news, weather, stock prices, and much more. You can also check your calendar and ‘To Do list from here. You can customize, rearrange and resize the widgets as per your needs and interests. However, if you feel that it is taking up the space of your taskbar, you can turn it off easily. Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar. Under Taskbar items, toggle Widgets to Off and enjoy the spacious taskbar.

PRODUCTIVITY

TIP #7

Multitask better with Snap layouts

If you are used to keyboard shortcuts for snapping in Windows 10, the shortcut, Win + Arrow, still works in Windows Tl. Windows 11 has further introduced more features to it, which may be helpful for people who are not used to the keyboard shortcuts and don't use snapping often. Hover your cursor over the Maximize or Resize button. You will be able to see different Snap Templates from which you can choose.

TIP #8

Clear your clutter simply with a Shake

Declutter your desktop by enabling the feature that lets you minimize all open windows except the one on which you're working. To access this feature, go to Settings > System > Multitasking. Next, toggle the switch for Title bar Window Shake to On. Now, shake a title bar window to minimize the others. You can also restore it by shaking it again.

TIP #9

Organize well with multi-desktops

Microsoft has introduced a new feature that enables you to multitask and organize your work by creating Multiple Desktops. The old Task View button now comes with a new icon, and you can see any virtual desktops open by simply hovering over the icon. You can also create new desktops and quickly move apps from one desktop to another.

Distractions while working or gaming can be annoying. Windows 11 comes with a new feature known as Focus Assist that blocks notifications to stay focused. You can set up this by going to Settings > System > Focus assist. From here, you can set it to Priority only or Alarms only, depending on your requirement.

TIP #11

Efficiently manage Battery & Space

Make your device run smoothly and efficiently by better managing your battery and space. To prevent your battery from draining fast, you can limit some notifications and background activity of unnecessary applications. Open Settings > System > Power & battery and click on Battery Saver, follow this path to make changes. Your device can start lagging if your Storage is running short. To manage your space better, go to Settings > System > Storage and click on ‘Show more categories’ to get a view of the complete list.

TIP #12

Team up with ease

Since most things can now be done virtually, Windows 11 lets you connect easily on Microsoft Teams. A Chat icon has been included in the taskbar with which you can quickly join video calls or start chats without having to open the Teams application. This app also lets you sync your contacts with the mobile application of Teams. Keeping these features at hand helps you connect virtually with anyone quickly.

Select the Strict option, which will block the pop-ups and significant trackers.

Suppose you face any difficulties while connecting to the network; no need to panic! It could be due to some error with drivers or settings. Just go to Settings > Network and Internet. Scroll down to Advanced Network Settings and click the Network Reset button. This will reset all your PC's network adapters and components and restore everything to factory settings.

TIP #16

Don't get distracted by what's not essential (Turn off notifications)

Notifications can be annoying while working, especially when they are not necessary. Navigate to Settings > System and then go to Notifications. Here you will find a button to toggle them off. Likewise, you can also turn off the notification of the apps you don't want to see separately.

No more hide n seek, find with ease

Windows 11 comes with a much enhanced Search Panel with a fresh look and advanced features. Now you can find anything and everything from your files, applications, emails, etc., within no time. Simply access it from the Task Bar and type in whatever you need to search for. It also shows you recent and frequently opened apps and files so you can access them quickly. From here, you can also search and open emails without opening the app.
